Spring and summer can bring severe weather, including tornadoes. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration offers resources for employers to help them develop an emergency plan, learn the warning signs, and monitor tornado watches and warnings, according to Safety+Health magazine.
OSHA offers advice regarding planning, equipping, and training and exercises. It says an employer’s plan should include details about suitable places to take shelter; policies to ensure all workers are accounted for; and procedures for addressing any onsite hazardous materials.
OSHA also provides response/recovery resources addressing potential hazards and general precautions in a tornado’s aftermath, as well as tornado safety checklists in English and Spanish.
